When we were kids, tweezing our eyebrows down to a narrow line was popular – it was almost like a contest to see who could get their brows the thinnest without looking like a total freak. Then, once we graduated from middle school and entered the ridiculousness that is high school, threading and waxing became a thing. And now that we’re older, the term “microblading” has become the newest beauty buzz word, leaving us all to wonder one thing – does it hurt?
Eyebrow microblading is a method of tattooing. But, unlike eyebrow tattoos, microblading will leave you with tiny, natural-looking hair-strokes that are applied by a manual microblading pen instead of two, dark lines tattooed on with an ink-filled machine.
Note: Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure that lasts between one to three years.
So, Does Microblading Hurt?
To ensure client comfort, Eye Design technicians use a topical anesthetic to numb the area before the procedure, making the process painless. Of course, everyone is different, so pain tolerance levels will vary.
The Microblading Healing Process
The microblading healing process is just that – a process. On the first day, your newly bladed brows will look amazing. But, you should be prepared for your brows to gradually get darker throughout the day. The first week following your appointment you’ll notice light scabbing – this is normal, don’t freak out.
Then, your skin will slowly begin to peel and flake off until your brows are fully healed.
Once your brows have healed, you’ll need to return for a touch-up appointment. The touch-up appointment is the final step in the microblading process.
