So many of our amazing clients ask our founder and Master Technician Nadia Afanaseva where she gets her nails done, and ever since she has started photos and videos of her nails on Instagram, we have been receiving even more inquiries.

Russian nailcare, also known throughout the beauty industry as “equipment manicures” or “e-file” manicures, involve sanding the skin around the nails with a small, specially-designed tool. The tiny e-filing tool, which is about the size of a household pen or smaller, is gentle — more so than traditional cuticle clippers.

E-filing is a modern approach to the removal of excess skin that gives the nail artist more control over her work at all times. Traditional clippers may cause the artist to remove too much skin, while e-filing is a slower, steadier process. Many women who have had traditional manicures with cuticle clippers have experienced having the skin around their nails pierced during the process or cut too short, resulting in bleeding, stinging, inflammation and possibly infection.

Similarly, cuticle clippers can leave the client with jagged, uneven results (especially when done by an artist who is inexperienced). With e-filing, cuticles and other skin around the edges of the nails are smoothed, leaving a clean canvas for polish. Nails also stay cleaner longer without any excess skin that may trap dirt.

With cleaner nails and impeccable polishing, Russian manicures and pedicures last 3 to 5 weeks — twice as long as typical a typical mani/pedi!
