What is the Carbon Peel Facial?

The Carbon Peel Facial is a painless skin solution that requires little-to-no downtime. It is a solution for oily skin, dull skin, blackheads, enlarged pores and face/body acne. Carbon Peel Facial exfoliates and refreshes the skin for soft, smooth and firm results.

What are the benefits?

Deep cleanse: Carbon absorbs oil and toxins deep inside the pores. When the PiQo4 destroys the carbon particles, it also destroys anything the carbon has absorbed.

Exfoliate: Dead skin cells and blackheads that attach to the liquid carbon are destroyed by the laser. This is more effective than any at-home exfoliating treatment and leaves you with a more even skin tone, visibly smaller pores and softer, more radiant skin overall.

Rejuvenate: Because of its ability to penetrate deep inside the skin, Carbon Peels stimulate collagen production. Collagen is necessary for firm, plump skin. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles, so skin feels tight and glowy.

Eliminate acne & oil: Heat produced during carbon peels reduces P.Acnes, the most common acne-causing bacteria, so clients can better manage pimples and breakouts. This heat also shrinks sebaceous (oil-producing) glands, reducing oil production, as well as congestion buildup in the pores. Carbon Peels are suitable for the back and chest, in addition to the face.

How does it work?

Liquid carbon is applied to the skin in an even layer & quickly penetrates deep into the pores. The light on our Lumenis PiQo4 laser is extremely attracted to the carbon applied to the skin. When our technicians shine this light over the targeted area, it destroys the carbon, as well as the oil, dead skin cells and toxins absorbed by it. (Lumenis PiQo4 does not affect any skin cells that have not been treated with liquid carbon.)

All skin treatments, including Carbon Peels, should be supplemented by a good skincare routine and a daily high-spectrum sunscreen for best results. Clients will see results after a single treatment. Maximum long-term results require regularly scheduled treatments.

What is the aftercare process like?

Keep your skin clean and balanced with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer daily. Skincare is an extremely individualized process, so find the products that work best for you. Sunscreen is essential for healthy skin, and especially so for those who undergo Carbon Peel Facials, which can increase skin’s sensitivity to UV rays. Even if you do not spend much time in the sun, sunscreen should be worn daily. Serious damage can be caused in as little as 20 minutes. Rays penetrate through car windows and through blue light (computer and phone screens).

Are there any side effects?

Side effects include skin redness or tingling 12 to 24 hours post-procedure and skin sensitivity for the first 72 hours post-procedure. Possible dryness, slight flaking or irritation may occur 4 to 5 days post-procedure.

All side effects should be mild and subside fully in 1 to 2 weeks. The length of recovery differs from person to person. Use gentle cleansers, skincare products and cosmetics if skin feels irritated.

Some individuals may experience hair removal of the treated area.

Individuals with herpes simplex viruses may experience breakouts, which can lead to infection.
